Submission to the Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Inquiry into independent assessments under the NDIS

CYDA policy submission.

Both Children and Young People with Disability Australia (CYDA) and the broader disability community are deeply concerned with the proposed introduction of independent assessments and the changes the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is proposing to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) access and planning processes.

As such, CYDA has contributed to a disability sector joint statement which opposes the reform in its current form. For a Scheme that has only recently achieved full transition, these dramatic reforms appear rushed and opaque, and there is a lack of clear evidentiary basis or genuine engagement with the communities who will feel their impacts.

CYDA policy submission.
