The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse was established in November 2012 and concluded in December 2017. Over 16,000 people contacted the Royal Commission, and more than 4000 individual institutions were reported as places where abuse had occurred. The Royal Commission made a number of recommendations including the establishment of a National Redress Scheme for people who had experienced child sexual abuse in institutions. CYDA has been active in supporting the work of the Royal Commission, contributing to research and policy through the provision of several submissions, providing evidence at public hearings and providing information to our members about the work of the Royal Commission. The Final Report of the Royal Commission is available at www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/preface-and-executive-summary
